Why this exists

Every fall, millions of pools run on spreadsheets: a commissioner hand-grading picks on Sunday nights, chasing screenshots, and re-sending a broken Excel link. Pick'em Builder started as a way to run one family pool without that Sunday-night job — scores flow in live, standings update themselves, and picks lock at kickoff without anyone policing the honor system. It grew from there into pools for offices, bar leagues, and local media audiences.

The product is built and run by Mike Amat, a software engineer in Miami, Florida, who has played in (and commissioned) office pools for most of his life. It launched for the 2026 football season and now hosts weekly pick'em, survivor, confidence, and against-the-spread pools across the NFL and college football, plus golf pools for the majors — with more sports on the roadmap.

The one rule: we never touch the money

Pick'em Builder is not a gambling site and never will be. We sell software to commissioners; players always join free. Buy-ins and payouts happen entirely between you and your group, off-platform — the site just displays what you tell it. One hundred percent of every pot goes back to the players, and no part of it ever passes through us. That line is the foundation of the whole product, and it's written into our terms.

How the site makes money

Pools are free to create and run with up to 10 players. Larger groups need a subscription ($5/month or $49/year), which also unlocks custom branding — that's the entire business model. No player fees, no cut of any pot, no selling player data.
